West Virginia

Last week Seth and I drove up to West Virginia to meet my dad for a little zip-lining and white water rafting.
My uncle and his two daughters had flown out to the East Coast for a little vacation and so there were 8 of us.
The best part of zip-lining was when my father came zipping into the platform just a little too fast and knocked over the stand with great force.
Graceful, Dad.
We also went white water rafting but I don't have any pictures of that because I didn't want to bring my camera.
We forgot the sunscreen and as a result I burned my legs pretty bad. I have been hobbling around the apartment like an old woman for the past few days.
So worth it, though.

Happy Birthday Bryce

Today is my brother's birthday. He's a pretty cool kid.
One of the coolest things about him is that he's always willing to help.
As kids, I would sometimes (all the time) use this to my advantage by getting him to make macaroni and cheese or brownies if I was hungry.

He even helped us load the truck for our move to North Carolina!

Keep being awesome, Bryce!

Rolling on the River

Last Friday while David was here we planned a kayaking trip down the Neuse river here in Raleigh.
Most of the Winsors here were able to come. We had 9 people. Good thing Seth's Dad owns so many kayaks. (We borrowed one canoe.)
It was David's first time kayaking but he did a good job.
The water level was pretty low. In a few spots we had to get out and pull our kayaks to deeper water.
And Seth and I have been sore for the past few days.
But the weather was gorgeous!
The trip was 10 miles and it took us 5-6 hours to finish, including stopping to see some sites and eat lunch.
Sites like this.
And this.
And now I consider myself a kayaking pro.

Question?

Why would I be busy looking for work when instead I can be:
feasting at La Rancherita, or
babysitting these cute kiddies,
or
repainting my furniture, or
at Kings Dominion with my sister, brother and husband, or
riding The Intimidator (that red one) and nearly blacking out on it?

Why?

Infestation

Seth and I love our new apartment.
It's big, it has a dishwasher, it has carpet that I don't mind walking around on barefoot.
There's only one problem.
These:
Earwigs.
Apparently they love our apartment as much as we do because we've been finding up to 7 or 8 a day.

Despite the fact that they are harmless and don't spread diseases, they are so creepy to look at!
And so I make Seth dispose of all of them.
One day he decided to start collecting them in a little ziploc bag. He got up to about 7.
Then we left for Virginia to visit for a few days. We got back late last night.
And now Seth has just informed me that the earwigs ate through the plastic bag while we were gone and are free in our apartment once again.
Great.
I put my flip-flops back on just in case...

Seth Got In

Seth was accepted at North Carolina State University.
We are very excited, since we moved out here hoping he would get in and we wouldn't have to relocate in a few months.
Very. Excited.
His classes start July 1st (a poor birthday present but oh wells).
Hooray for my grad student husband!
