I Don't Understand Babies.

I'm really tired, so I will think I will just cry about it instead of doing the sensible thing and going to sleep.

I'm hungry and even though I'm being offered food, I think I want to just cry for a good half-hour first and then eat.

I finally went to sleep because I'm so tired from crying. But I think I'll wake up in a half-hour and cry because I'm suddenly no longer sleeping.

I want to be held and I want you to walk around too. If you sit down or put me down I will cry - and doubly hard if you don't do both at the same time.

I'm bored, so I'm going to cry.

Cry cry cry cry cry.

It's been a long day.

Disasters!

Earthquake on Tuesday.
Hurricane on Saturday.
Tornadoes in April.

Who knew life in North Carolina would be so thrilling?

Our power was out for a few hours Saturday morning from Hurricane Irene, but other than that we were lucky. I still have some family in Virginia without power.

So this weekend I have been especially grateful for our nice apartment to live in and everything that goes along with having electricity.

A/C is the bomb.
And so is being able to use your bathroom without a flashlight.

Screen Time

This is our other new daily activity with T.
Watching the psychedelic images on the music player. It fascinates her.
I also play music videos for her on youtube.
Her current favorite is Beyonce's "Single Ladies".
I've tried other music videos. She just doesn't yet appreciate the quality of OK Go. In fact, it made her start crying again.
And yes, I happily use the screen to entertain my 6-week old.
Just another parenting ideal that I've thrown out the window.

Walks

This is our new daily activity.
And I had to wait a good long while to try it too because we had heat advisories/100 degree weather practically every day for the month or so after T was born.
And ain't no way I'm taking my baby out in that.
I will, however, take her out in 90 degree weather.
Because what else am I supposed to do to entertain the two of us? Making weird faces at her only lasts for so long, people.
She loves it.

Blessing

We gave T her blessing last Sunday.
Almost the whole family (from both sides!) were there.
One sister and one brother-in-law are missing.
But all of the Winsors were there.
She loved getting her picture taken in her blessing dress.
This is also the dress that I was blessed in.
How sentimental!
Yep. I have a cute baby.
